Ludmilla takes center stage at Coachella

Braziilian singer Ludmilla became the first afro-latina to beform on the main stage at Coachella on Saturday. With an intro by the queen B herself: “From Rio, Brazil, all the way down to Coachella… Ludmilla.” The voice of Brazilian trans activist and politician Erika Hilton followed, urging against any kind of discrimination during the performance. And like that, the pop star started her North American career with a bang. Ludmilla dazzled American audiences with her brand of sash and energy. The Brazilian sensation known far and wide, captivates millions with her versatile blend of Brazilian funk, samba, and pagode, making her a beloved household name in her home country.The Rio De Janeiro native a part of Afro-Brazilian women that have been making waves in Latin America changing the look and perception of what Latin Music looks like. Afro-Latina women have always been part of the music scence but to often have been push aside in favor of their lighter counter parts. Iza and Rebecca along with Ludmilla are changing helping bring the attention back. Ludmilla who is a latin grammy winner was the first Black Latin American artist to reach one billion streams on the app, it is not surprising that she believes her art will appeal to a broad American audience without having to change her current music or translate her lyrics.
