Wild West 'The Unholy Trinity' Stars Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L. Jackson
The Unholy Trinity is the new western starring Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L. Jackson. The Unholy Trinity, directed by Richard Gray, tells the tale of a village split in two by the conflict between deceit and truth, and of a man's quest for revenge and the revelation of hidden truths.
Henry Broadway, played by Brandon Lessard, is a young man who returns to Trinity, Montana, his hometown, in order to get revenge for what he perceives as the unfair killing of his father.
He learns the hard way that he will have to battle for his life in order to get revenge for his father's death. He finds out the hard way that if he wants vengeance for his father's death, he must fight for his life.
“He’s a man that comes from a fractured, broken landscape of humanity, from persecution. So he’s used to it. He’s hardened by the cruelty of life,” he told Blavity’s Shadow and Act in a recent interview.
He added, “He has the job to take care of this small town and this community of people, and it has secrets, and he’s a bent, broken man trying to do well.”
Former slave St. Christopher, played by Jackson, is a gold hunter whose allegiance to Trinity members like Henry is nebulous and susceptible to manipulation for a suitable sum.
“My character is a traveler, and in a way, I guess, he’d be a gypsy,” Jackson said.
He added. “He’s out there living by his wiles. He’s come from a system of oppression that he’s escaped from and learned how to survive and work his way through an environment that is basically stacked against him most times. He’s learned how to flip that on its head and aggressively assert his freedom in a different kind of way.”
Fans of the Western genre will adore the film's rough 1870s setting, which has a brothel and some naughty miners. Seeing Jackson and Brosnan finally work together onscreen is the true gem, though.
