Warner Bros.' Clayface, featuring Naomi Ackie, led the worldwide box office over the quiet Halloween weekend with an estimated $22.8 million, while Sony's Resident Evil crossed $400 million globally.
According to Screen International's global chart, based on Rentrak estimates, Clayface earned $12.4 million from 80 international territories on top of its North American haul. The DC horror title now stands at $83 million worldwide, including $38.9 million internationally. At home, it finished a close second to A24's You Can See Everything, as Cup of Soul reported Sunday.
Laika's animated Wildwood moved up to No. 2 worldwide with $11.6 million after expanding overseas, lifting its global total to $35.2 million. You Can See Everything placed third globally with $10.7 million, almost all of it domestic, and has earned $64 million worldwide.
'Resident Evil' crosses $400 million
Zach Cregger's Resident Evil added $10 million worldwide, bringing its global total to $400 million, with $242.6 million from 67 international markets. Universal's Other Mommy followed with $8.5 million for a $107.5 million cumulative total, and Paramount's Heart of the Beast took $6.8 million, reaching $181 million worldwide.
Rounding out the top 10 were Wicker at $6.8 million, Paramount's Street Fighter at $6.4 million ($91.9 million worldwide), newcomer Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 at $5.4 million from 12 territories and Verity at $5.2 million ($172.4 million worldwide). For Clayface, the steady international rollout matters as Warner Bros. builds its new DC slate. The film gives Ackie, whom Cup of Soul has followed since her casting in the DC Universe, a global showcase in a genre-driven studio release.
