Critics Choice Awards 2026: Highlighting the Diverse and Minority Nominees in Film and Television
The nominations for the 31st Critics Choice Awards have been announced, celebrating outstanding achievements in both film and television. This year's slate highlights a strong showing of diverse talent and powerful minority voices across major acting categories, directing, and writing. The awards ceremony will air live on January 4, 2026.
Warner Bros.' Sinners leads the nominations with 17, including Best Picture, Best Director (Ryan Coogler), and Best Actor (Michael B. Jordan). WB's One Battle After Another follows with 14 nominations, also featuring Best Picture, Best Director (Paul Thomas Anderson), and Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio).
Netflix’s Frankenstein and Focus Features’ Hamnet each have 11 nominations and will compete for Best Picture alongside Focus’ Bugonia, Netflix’s Jay Kelly and Train Dreams, A24’s Marty Supreme, Neon’s Sentimental Value, and Universal’s Wicked: For Evil.
On the television front, Netflix's limited series Adolescence tops the list with six nominations, closely followed by the streamer's Nobody Wants This, which received five nominations. Six additional programs are tied with four nominations each: Peacock’s All Her Fault, Netflix’s The Diplomat and Death by Lightning, CBS’s Ghosts, HBO Max’s The Pitt and Hacks, and Apple TV’s Severance.
Maintaining its integrated cinema and television awards format, the 31st Annual Critics Choice Awards will be held on Saturday, January 4, at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The ceremony, hosted by Chelsea Handler, will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. ET/PT and will be broadcast live on E! for the second consecutive year, in addition to being televised live on USA Network.
