Highest to Lowest Trailer shows Denzel Washington vs A$ap Rocky

Denzel Washington and A$AP Rocky are the stars of A24's Highest 2 Lowest, the most recent film directed by Spike Lee. The first complete trailer has been released.

After debuting at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, it will be released in theaters this summer. It will debut on Apple TV+ after its theatrical run.

The fifth film in the long-standing collaborative relationship between Lee and Washington, Highest 2 Lowest, is their first film together since 2006's Inside Man, as we already reported.

The Premise: When a titan music mogul (Washington), widely known as having the “best ears in the business”, is targeted with a ransom plot, he is jammed up in a life-or-death moral dilemma.

Other ensemble members include Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, Aubrey Joseph, Dean Winters, John Douglas Thompson, LaChanze, Michael Potts, Elijah Wright, Wendell Pierce, Ice Spice, and others. William Alan Fox composed the screenplay. This film is produced by Mandalay Pictures, Escape Artists, and A24. Todd Black of Escape Artists and Michael Berman of Mandalay Pictures are the producers of the film. Lee collaborates with Mandalay Pictures' Peter Gruber to executive produce through his 40 Acres And A Mule Filmworks. Juniper Productions is also executive produced by Matthew Lindner, Chris Brigham, and Katia Washington. Jordan Moldo of Mandalay Pictures serves as co-producer.

The film is a reimagining of the criminal thriller High and Low, directed by the renowned Akira Kurosawa. Both films are adapted from the novel King's Ransom by Ed McBain, which chronicles the transformation of a businessman's life into a mere shadow of its former self in response to captors' demands for a ransom payment.

It will be released in theaters on Aug. 22. It’ll then drop Sept. 5 on Apple TV+.
