Jurnee Smollet stars in Smoke

Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for Smoke, their upcoming crime thriller series starring Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett.

Egerton also executive produces the series, and it follows his previous cooperation with them, the 2022 limited series Black Bird.

Dennis Lehane developed and wrote the series, which was inspired by genuine events. Here is the logline: Smoke follows an arson investigator who reluctantly teams up with a police detective as they rush to stop two arsonists, sparking a tangled game of secrets and suspicions.

Egerton portrays arson investigator Dave Gudsen, while Smollett plays police officer Michelle Calderone.

Rafe Spall, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Hannah Emily Anderson, Anna Chlumsky, Adina Porter, Greg Kinnear, and John Leguizamo co-star. Thom Yorke wrote and performed the title track.

The Apple Studios series is also executive produced by Richard Plepler for EDEN Productions, Bradley Thomas and Dan Friedkin for Imperative Entertainment, Kari Skogland, Joe Chappelle, and Jane Bartelme.

Kary Antholis, executive producer for Crime Story Media, LLC, is the host of truth.media's Firebug podcast, which served as inspiration for the fictional series. Marc Smerling is also the executive producer for Truth Podcasting Corp. The series' directors are Skogland, Chappelle, and Jim McKay.

Black Bird will release two episodes on Apple TV+ on June 27. Following that, one episode will air each Friday until the series finale on August 15.
