OG Aunt Viv Janet Hubert joins Bel-Air in its final season

In a full-circle moment for fans of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air universe, Janet Hubert, who originally played Aunt Viv, will guest-star in the fourth and final season of Peacock's dramatic reimagining, Bel-Air. Hubert's return marks a significant and symbolic milestone, given her well-documented departure from the original sitcom decades ago. 

Hubert is set to play a new character, a wise woman whom Hilary (played by Coco Jones) meets. This mentor-like role is described as becoming "instrumental to the Banks family," promising to add a new layer of depth and guidance to Hilary's journey.

The final season also brings another notable addition: Caroline Chikezie, known for her role in Power Book II: Ghost. Chikezie will play Dominique Warren, a formidable figure from Geoffrey's (Jimmy Akingbola) past. Dominique is the head of Geoffrey's former London gang and is described as being like a sister to him, setting up a complex and potentially dangerous plot line. 

Bel-Air season four, which is also the final season, premieres on Peacock on Monday, November 24, 2025. The season promises to explore key moments in the Banks family's lives as Will and Carlton navigate their senior year and prepare for the future. The new additions of Hubert and Chikezie will contribute to the season's evolving storylines and provide a compelling final chapter for the popular series.

Janet Hubert's appearance on Bel-Air is particularly poignant for fans of the original series. Hubert famously had a falling out with star Will Smith and departed the show after season three. While the two publicly reconciled during the 2020 Fresh Prince reunion special on HBO Max, her official involvement in the reboot offers a powerful sense of closure for the fractured parts of the franchise's legacy. Her role joins those of other Fresh Prince alumni who have also appeared in the reboot, including Daphne Maxwell Reid, Vernee Watson-Johnson, Tatyana Ali, Joseph Marcell, and Tyra Banks.
