The Body of Water' Will Star Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor And Isiah Whitlock Jr

Vicky Wight's forthcoming film will feature Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.

Whitlock and Ellis-Taylor have been cast alongside Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Stephen Rea, Aidan Quinn, Eva Birthistle, Allen Leech, Fionnula Flanagan, Maria Doyle Kennedy, and Bronagh Gallagher in the upcoming film, The Body Is Water, according to Deadline.

The film is characterized as "a cross-cultural narrative about the strangers who refuse to allow you to vanish, as well as the themes of loss and healing." The film, which is set in West Cork, Ireland, "follows a grieving man who disappears to a remote Irish village, only to find that disappearing is the one thing the town–and Lou, an eccentric young woman with a curious dog–won't let him do."

Geoff Linville, Sydney Augusta Huynh, and John Norton of Red Ted Media will collaborate with Wight to produce. Stephen Hall, Mike Jones of Dark Day Pictures, and Coert Voorhees serve as executive producers.

Ellis-Taylor previously collaborated with Wight on the 2013 drama The Volunteer, in which she co-starred with Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Ellis-Taylor's character in The Volunteer is a woman who departs from a lucrative position that ultimately undermines her morale, in a manner reminiscent of The Body is Water, which follows an individual's quest to rediscover their identity.

She resolves to return to the world by volunteering at a soup kitchen after a period of neglecting her well-being. In reality, the process of self-discovery is a common thread in numerous of Wight's projects. Happiness is for Beginners, for example, depicts a woman, Ellie Kemper, who is enrolled in a wilderness course by her brother in order to rediscover herself following a divorce.
