The Cape Fear Trailer Is Here — And Javier Bardem Is Absolutely Terrifying

The wait is over. Apple TV+ has officially dropped the first footage from Cape Fear, and it is every bit as unsettling as you'd expect.

The 10-episode limited series stars Oscar winner Javier Bardem and Oscar nominee Amy Adams, both of whom also serve as executive producers, alongside Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Patrick Wilson.

The official synopsis sets the stage: "A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) when Max Cady (Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison — and he wants vengeance."

The tense teaser leans into a pulpy Southern Gothic atmosphere, with Bardem's sinister grin and prison tattoos making a chilling first impression as the sadistic Max Cady — a role previously brought to life by Robert Mitchum and Robert De Niro.

The series is created and showrun by Nick Antosca (Brand New Cherry Flavor), with the pilot directed by Oscar nominee Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), who also executive produces. Gold Derby Lending serious Hollywood pedigree to the project, Academy Award winners Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are both on board as executive producers — linking this new adaptation directly to its iconic predecessors.

Cape Fear makes its global debut on June 5, 2026, with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 31.

Mark your calendars. This one has prestige thriller written all over it.
