'Beauty In Black,' Starring Tyler Perry, Debuts Season 2 Trailer and First Look Photos
Smart, ruthless, calculated:There’s a new HBIC—head Bellarie in charge—as Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black returns for Season 2 on September 11. Chicago club dancer Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) has ascended to a powerful new role as the wife of businessman Horace Bellarie (Ricco Ross), the new leader of the Beauty in Black makeup empire.
The Season 2 trailer reveals that the personal vendettas of a scorned ex are powerful, affecting not only the influential Bellarie family but also their many adversaries.
You can follow the journey of the new Bellarie family matriarch starting September 11. In the meantime, be sure to watch the trailer and scroll down for new photos from the upcoming episodes.
“By the end of the season, Kimmie is on the verge of discovering a whole new level of power,” Williams previously told Tudum. But Kimmie’s ascension is only just beginning, because Beauty in Black’s second season will be released in two parts just like the first.
“We left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and we’re thrilled to continue Kimmie’s journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellarie family,” Perry tells Tudum. “Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I can’t wait for fans to continue to see her story unfold. If you found Season 1 to be exhilarating, you won't be prepared for Season 2.
Season 1 concludes with Bellarie patriarch Horace marrying Kimmie in a scheme to ensure she receives his inheritance, as she is arguably the only person he trusts. “Sons, this is your new stepmother,” he declares to his shocked and spoiled heirs, Roy (Julian Horton) and Charles (Steven G. Norfleet), from his hospital bed. “Oh yes—and she’s also your new boss.”
This announcement does not sit well with the rest of the affluent family, particularly his beauty mogul daughter-in-law Mallory (Crystle Stewart), his ex-wife Olivia (Debbi Morgan), and his brother Norman (Richard Lawson). Additionally, we must not overlook Bellarie’s head of security, Jules (Charles Malik Whitfield), Kimmie’s former boss, who certainly didn’t see this coming.
As for what Kimmie’s new marriage means for the Bellaries, you’ll have to tune in for the upcoming episodes. Season 1 focused on Kimmie’s efforts to protect her loved ones when the world wrongs them. “It’s only when the people she loves are affected that she taps into her true power. We see that begin to surface after Rain (Amber Reign Smith) gets hurt, but it fully shifts when her sister is pulled into this world during Part 2,” says Williams. With the Bellarie name backing her, there’s nothing stopping Kimmie from claiming what’s hers.
