Danai Gurira joins Michael B. Jordan in The Thomas Crown Affair

Currently, Michael B. Jordan's The Thomas Crown Affair is in the casting phase. Trade publications report that Danai Gurira, Kenneth Branagh, and Lily Gladstone have joined the cast, alongside the previously announced Taylor Russell.

Further details regarding the story treatment have also been revealed. This adaptation will reverse the gender roles seen in the 1968 original and its 1999 remake. In this version, Jordan, who is also directing and producing through Outlier Society, will play the insurance investigator tracking an art thief. Taylor Russell will portray the aristocratic art thief, a role previously held by a male billionaire.

Danai Gurira is reported to play Jordan's confidante. The roles of Lily Gladstone and Kenneth Branagh are currently undisclosed. Production is set to begin in London on Monday, with filming already underway in Europe.

Producing alongside Jordan are Elizabeth Raposo of Outlier Society and Charles Roven of Atlas Entertainment. Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff of Toberoff Production are also producing. Alan Trustman, who wrote the original 1968 film, is serving as executive producer.

Amazon MGM has scheduled the theatrical release of The Thomas Crown Affair for March 5, 2027.
