Dept. Q Is Back for Season 2
In spite of his best efforts, cantankerous Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck (Matthew Goode) remains employed by the police department of Edinburgh, Scotland. Now, he’s set to return for another season of Dept. Q, the hit mystery series created by Scott Frank (The Queen’s Gambit).Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck (Matthew Goode), a cantankerous yet still-employed member of the Edinburgh, Scotland police department, is back for another season of Dept. Q. The hit mystery series was created by Scott Frank (The Queen's Gambit).
The first season's team of unconventional investigators is also back, featuring Alexej Manvelov as Akram, Leah Byrne as Rose, and Jamie Sives as Hardy. And, naturally, Dept. Q wouldn't be complete without its other main character: Edinburgh, which will again serve as the production location.
“I’d like to thank Netflix for giving us the opportunity to further explore Dept. Q’s storylines,” Goode says in a statement to Netflix. “We have a wonderful cast and crew, led by our resident genius Scott Frank. I cannot wait to see what comes from his magic quill!”
Inspired by Jussi Adler-Olsen's novels, Dept. Q is a darkly humorous and propulsive procedural series. Headquartered in the basement of an Edinburgh police station, the maverick Department Q team re-investigates cases previously deemed unsolvable. The show draws viewers into the complex mysteries of both the cases and the detectives themselves. Season 1 achieved global success, spending six weeks in the Global Top Ten on Netflix.
“We are raring to return to Carl Morck and his band of glorious misfits at Dept. Q,” Netflix executives Mona Qureshi and Manda Levin say in a statement. “Scott Frank brought us best-in-class storytelling and thrilled Netflix audiences worldwide. We can’t wait to see what Morck and the gang uncover in Season 2 … Edinburgh, we’re back.”
Stay tuned for more details on the next cold case that Morck and his team will be tackling. And let's hope they manage to tidy up their basement a bit between seasons.
