Hollywood’s New Hero: First Look at Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’
he Marvel Cinematic Universe is going meta. Following its massive debut at New York Comic Con 2025, Marvel Television has officially released the first teaser trailer and poster for
Wonder Man, an eight-episode streaming event coming to Disney+.
“A Love Letter to Hollywood”: Trailer Breakdown
The first look introduces Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, a struggling Los Angeles actor who finds himself at a high-stakes audition for a superhero role—only to end up with actual superpowers. Unlike the standard MCU fare, the teaser highlights a satirical, "behind-the-scenes" tone.
The Return of Trevor Slattery: Sir Ben Kingsley reprises his fan-favorite role as the bumbling actor Trevor Slattery. The trailer showcases an unlikely mentorship between the two, as Trevor attempts to guide Simon through the cutthroat world of Hollywood.
The Meta-Twist: In a clever nod to superhero fatigue, the series follows Simon as he auditions for a remake of a forgotten 80s film titled Wonder Man, directed by the eccentric Von Kovak (portrayed by Zlatko Burić).
Marvel Spotlight Banner: The series is confirmed to be part of the Marvel Spotlight initiative, focusing on a more character-driven, grounded story that doesn't require extensive knowledge of the wider MCU timeline.Production Credits & Premiere Date
Release Date: Originally slated for late 2025, Wonder Man is now scheduled to premiere all eight episodes on January 27, 2026.
Creators: The show is co-created by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) and showrunner Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community).
The Cast: Alongside Abdul-Mateen II and Kingsley, the series stars Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams (The Grim Reaper), Josh Gad, Olivia Thirlby, and Arian Moayed returning as Agent Cleary.
