Idris and Cena team up for “Heads of State”
The first trailer for Heads of State, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and featuring John Cena, Idris Elba, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, has been released. Elba portrays the prime minister of the UK while Cena plays the president of the US in the film.
Elba and Cena, who co-starred in The Suicide Squad in 2021, are reuniting for this project.
Along with Carla Gugino, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, Sarah Niles, and Jack Quaid, the picture also features Richard Coyle.
The Plot is as follows-In the action-comedy Heads of State, the UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Elba) and U.S. President Will Derringer (Cena) have a not-so-friendly and very public rivalry that jeopardizes their countries’ “special relationship.” But when they become the targets of a powerful and ruthless foreign adversary—who proves more than a match for the two leaders’ security forces—they are begrudgingly forced to rely on the only two people they can trust: each other. Ultimately allied with the brilliant MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Chopra Jonas), they must go on the run and find a way to work together long enough to thwart a global conspiracy that threatens the entire free world.
The screenplay was written by Harrison Query, with contributions from André Nemec and Josh Appelbaum; the film was directed by Ilya Naishuller. The story was written by Harrison Query. Marcus Viscidi, Appelbaum, Nemec, Cena, and Elba serve as executive producers, while Peter Safran and John Rickard serve as producers.
The film hits Prime Video on July 2.
