Idris Elba Faces Nuclear Crisis in New Netflix Thriller

The first full trailer for Kathryn Bigelow's upcoming film, A House of Dynamite, offers a gritty, realistic perspective on the potential chaos that could ensue if a rogue nuclear bomb were aimed at the United States.

Starring Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson, the film centers on a group of Washington, D.C., officials confronting a crisis as, according to the logline, "a single, unattributed missile is launched at the United States."

The premise is, “A race begins to determine who is responsible and how to respond.” The question posed in the trailer, however, is if anyone in DC is ready for such a scenario.

The film is penned by Noah Oppenheim and produced by Oppenheim, Bigelow, and Greg Shapiro. In addition to Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson, the cast features Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Moses Ingram, and Jonah Hauer-King, along with Greta Lee and Jason Clarke.

The additional cast includes Malachi Beasley, Brian Tee, Brittany O’Grady, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Willa Fitzgerald, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Kyle Allen, and Kaitlyn Dever.

The film recently had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival in anticipation of its international theatrical release. It is also scheduled to be screened at the New York Film Festival.

A House of Dynamite will be released in UK cinemas on October 3, premiere in US theaters on October 10, and become available on Netflix on October 24.
