Krondon to Play Live-Action Tombstone in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Black Lightning star Marvin”Krondon” Jones III is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Deadline, Jones will portray the villain Tombstone in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Neither Sony nor Marvel has provided remarks regarding the casting.

Jones has also voiced Tombstone in the Sony animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and he is set to reprise the role in the third film in the series, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

An African-American man with albinism and sharpened teeth, the comic book character terrorizes New York City as a crime boss. Additionally, Tombstone was the most trusted hitman for Kingpin. In later comic books, Tombstone acquires superpowers after an incident at an Oscorp chemical plant. Tombstone is the head of security at Fisk Industries and Kingpin's personal bodyguard in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

The filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been temporarily suspended due to the concussion of its lead actor, Tom Holland. Filming is scheduled to resume on September 29. Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi, is responsible for the direction of the film, which also features Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Mark Ruffalo.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still scheduled for release in theaters on July 31, 2026.
