Kym Whitley joins the 'Martin' spinoff series 'Varnell Hill' for BET+

The decade of the 1990s was a prosperous one for the sitcom starring Martin Lawrence. This multi-camera workplace comedy is comprised of eight episodes, and it is set against the backdrop of The Varnell Hill Show, which is a late-night chat show that has been operating for a long time. The documentary digs into the volatile world of television production, following Varnell's efforts to remain relevant in an industry that is constantly shifting. Additionally, the series explores the corporate dynamics that exist among network executives, business stakeholders, and creative teams that are involved in the creation of the show.
Davidson reprises his much-loved role as a guest actor on Martin, in which he plays the title character, Varnell Hill. Whitley is going to play the part of Kim Jones, who has been Varnell's longtime assistant, emotional bodyguard, professional fixer, and the unofficial executive producer of the talk show.
Martin co-creator, actor, and executive producer Lawrence, along with Martin executive producer and showrunner Bentley Evans, were responsible for all aspects of the production of Varnell Hill, including its creation and executive production. The pilot was written by Evans, who will also direct the feature film and serve as the showrunner. In conjunction with Runteldat Entertainment's Martin Lawrence, Stacy Lyles, Robert Lawrence, and Rae Proctor, as well as Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Andy Horn, he will serve as an executive producer for the film Varnell Hill, which will be produced by Bentley Evans Productions.
There are other episodes of the series that have already begun filming in Los Angeles, and Lawrence is scheduled to reprise his role as Martin Payne in those episodes.
