The Chi adds Phylicia Rashad,Wendy Racquel Robinson and Karrueche Tran

The Chi couldn’t stack its deck any higher, Showtime’s critically acclaimed drama is bringing in three forces of nature for its upcoming seventh season: Phylicia Rashad, Wendy Raquel Robinson, and Karrueche Tran.

The series, created by Lena Waithe and executive produced by Common, has always been rooted in the resilience and richness of the South Side of Chicago — but now, with this latest casting news, it’s putting womanhood at the center of power like never before.

Viewership increased by 25% from the previous season, resulting in a record-breaking sixth season. The Chi will be broadcast on May 16 on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME®. The show will convey a clear message: the women are present and they are not seeking permission.

We should discuss the responsibilities. Renee, one of the few individuals who sees through Pastor Zeke's well-crafted exterior, will be portrayed by Phylicia Rashad, who most recently demonstrated her range in The Beekeeper and This Is Us. Riley Dalton, a character characterized by both tenderness and tough truths, is shaped by grief but walks in wisdom, and is portrayed by Wendy Raquel Robinson (forever Tasha Mack in our hearts). Karrueche Tran's portrayal of Zuri, a woman who is plagued by misfortune despite her efforts to establish a firm foundation, further solidifies her status as a dramatic actress to watch.

As Waithe hinted, this season will intensify the emphasis on the influential women of The Chi, who have acquired the ability to balance power, suffering, and purpose. Rivalries are escalating, alliances are in a state of trembling, and the stakes are at an all-time high with Alicia now in charge of the storyline.
