Diego Luna will host Academy Arts & Sciences awards
LOS ANGELES, CA – At the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Diego Luna, an actor, director, and producer, will serve as the host of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Scientific and Technical Awards presentation. He will present 14 accomplishments that were previously disclosed in January during the evening.
Scientific and Technical Awards are granted to accomplishments that have a documented history of making substantial contributions to the motion picture production process. Furthermore, the ceremony will award an Academy Award of Merit (an Oscar® statuette) to collectively acknowledge "all the individuals who have developed and supported captioning technology, whether open or closed, for film."
Currently, Luna is the executive producer and protagonist of the Emmy®-nominated and Peabody Award-winning series "Andor," in which he reprises his role as Cassian Andor from "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in the limited series "La Máquina." Some of his most notable works include "Frida," "Y Tu Mamá También," and the forthcoming film "Kiss of the Spider Woman." Additionally, he has directed numerous films, such as "Cesar Chavez" and "Mr. Pig." Luna is a co-founder of La Corriente del Golfo, a production company that concentrates on the cultivation of Mexican talent and narratives.
