“The Last of Us” has been renewed for season 3 before premiere

HBO's The Last of Us has been officially renewed for Season 3, just than a week before Season 2 premieres on Max. “It can’t be for nothing,” Max revealed via its social media channels on April 9. “Season 3 is coming.” A deep red flare is featured burning bright in the bottom corner of a video accompanying the ominous caption.

The Last of Us premiered in January 2023 to widespread praise, with some calling it the best video game adaptation to date. Season 1 won a remarkable eight Emmys out of 24 nominations. The highly anticipated Season 2 will see Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal return as Ellie and Joel, respectively, as well as newcomer Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, a soldier who is out to exact retribution after losing someone close to her. Season 2 will also feature Beef sensation Young Mazino, Alien: Romulus actress Isabelle Merced, Captain America: Brave New World actor Danny Ramirez, and veterans Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Wright.
