The 4 chair of the upcoming Met Gala where the theme is “Superfine:Taloring Black Style” centers on the concept of Black dandyism, exploring how how fashion has shaped Black Identity and expression within the Black diaspora. The exhibition, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s work, will delve into the evolution of Black Danyism, showcasing garments, accessories, and other artifacts that illustrate its various facts.
The exhibition will trace the development of Black dandyism from it’s origin in the 18th century to the present day, highlighting its cultural significance,
The exhibition will explore how the dandyism has been used as a tool for resistance and a way to assert dignity and identity in the face of oppression.
The Met Gala will be a platform to celebrate and showcase the contribution of Black designers and other creatives figueres who have shaped the world of fashion.
