Gus Fring is going to war with the Titans.
Giancarlo Esposito, the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star, and Oscar winner Tim Robbins of Silo and Mystic River will guest star in Apple TV's new Monsterverse series, Deadline reported. Their roles have not been revealed.
The series is a spinoff of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and stars Wyatt Russell, who also executive produces, as a young Col. Lee Shaw. On the flagship show, Russell shared the role with his father, Kurt Russell, who plays the older Shaw.
This time the story belongs to the younger man. Set in 1984, it follows Shaw on a secret mission behind enemy lines to stop the Soviets from unleashing a new Titan big enough to destroy the United States and swing the Cold War.
Esposito and Robbins join a cast that already includes Millie Brady, Pilou Asbaek, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, Nyasha Hatendi, Connie Nielsen and Stana Katic. Production began in June in Prague, London and Kladno, according to Knight Edge Media.
Joby Harold is showrunner and oversees all of Legendary's Monsterverse television for Apple TV under an overall deal. Toho, which owns Godzilla, is also on board as an executive producer.
Esposito's recent credits include Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World. Apple has not set a premiere date or title for the series.
