Sydney Sweeney's dark new take on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow may have found its Ichabod Crane. Nicholas Galitzine is in talks to join Hollow, as first reported by Deadline, according to The Playlist.
Lindsey Anderson Beer is directing the film and adapting her own debut novel, which is due out in fall 2027. Her version of Washington Irving's classic centers on Sweeney's Katrina Van Tassel and the seductive, supernatural love triangle she is caught in. Ichabod is part of the story, but he is secondary to Katrina, a clear break from Tim Burton's 1999 Sleepy Hollow, which starred Johnny Depp as Crane.
Sweeney's first film under her new banner
Hollow is the first film produced by Sweeney's new Honey Badger banner, part of a first-look deal with Sony Pictures. Beer is also producing through Lab Brew, alongside LuckyChap. Off Campus actor Belmont Cameli was already set to co-star.
The role continues a fast rise for Galitzine, whose breakout came in 2023's Red, White & Royal Blue. He has since starred opposite Anne Hathaway in The Idea of You and appeared in 100 Nights of Hero and Masters of the Universe.
His upcoming slate includes the Netflix war drama The Mosquito Bowl, The Return of Stanley Atwell and Red, White & Royal Wedding. If his deal for Hollow closes, the film would add a high-profile studio horror project to that lineup.
