"Beyond the Gates," the groundbreaking Black soap opera on CBS, has left viewers reeling with its first major death.
Doug McBride (Jason Graham), a former surgeon and the husband of esteemed real estate mogul Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli), has been discovered dead following a fiery car accident. As is typical in soap operas, such incidents are usually planned. It appears likely that the death was orchestrated by entrepreneur Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom), who was engaged in an affair with Vanessa at the time of the tragic event.
As TVLine mentioned, Vanessa suspects that Joey may be responsible for her husband's death. However, will his denial of any involvement ease her concerns? It's uncertain.
Graham’s departure has had a significant impact on the cast, who were featured in an Instagram video shared by Buglioli. In the video, they can be seen applauding and tearfully expressing their emotions over Graham's exit from the series.
He shared on his instragram, “I love you all. You guys are family for life.”

Series creator and writer Michele Val Jean expressed her sadness over Graham's departure, especially since it followed her decision to kill off Doug. In the comments section, she candidly stated, “I’m a horrible person.”
