Tariq and Tommy Are Back: STARZ Greenlights "Power: Legacy" With Michael Rainey Jr. and Joseph Sikora

The two franchise pillars reunite in a new eight-episode chapter set in New York City, marking the fifth spinoff in the billion-hour Power universe.

STARZ has officially greenlit Power: Legacy, an eight-episode drama series that will reunite Michael Rainey Jr. and Joseph Sikora as Tariq St. Patrick and Tommy Egan — two of the most beloved characters in premium cable history. The announcement, made June 4, marks a major moment for the long-running Power franchise and its passionate fanbase, who have waited years to see the two leads share the screen again.

The new series picks up with Tommy Egan returning to New York, where he teams up with Tariq to seize control of the city. The reunion was teased first in a post-credits scene at the close of Power Book II: Ghost's final season in 2024, and confirmed when Tariq made a surprise appearance in the Power Book IV: Force series finale in January 2026.

"Power never dies, and this chapter is our biggest yet. Fans have been waiting to see Tariq and Tommy together, and now they're taking over New York City."

— Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Executive Producer

Power: Legacy is a co-production between STARZ and Lionsgate Television — a strategic shift from previous Power entries, which were licensed rather than co-owned. The new model gives STARZ a meaningful stake in the series' ancillary and downstream revenue, strengthening its proprietary IP portfolio and long-term shareholder value.

Gary Lennon, who most recently served as showrunner on the record-breaking final season of Force, returns in the same role here. The pilot script was co-written by Lennon and Kendra Chapman Davis. Executive producers include franchise creator Courtney A. Kemp through End of Episode, 50 Cent through G-Unit Film and Television, and Mark Canton through Canton Entertainment. Sikora and Chapman Davis also executive produce; Rainey Jr. serves as producer.

"The fans have spoken, and we listened," said Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at STARZ. "For over a decade the Power Universe has remained at the forefront of culture. We're thrilled to reunite Joseph and Michael to deliver a new chapter that fuses the franchise's iconic legacy with bold, boundary-pushing storytelling."

Power: Legacy is the fifth installment in the expanded Power Universe, following Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan (whose fifth and final season premieres June 12), Force, and the in-production origin story Power: Origins. Both Rainey Jr. and Sikora have been central to the franchise for over a decade — their characters now converging in what promises to be an electrifying new chapter.
